Bruderer Acoustic Enclosure & Sound Absorption System

Client:

Bruderer

Facility Comprising:

Sound Absorption Panels
Safety Interlock System
Material Transfer Slots
RSA Steel Framework

Key Project Elements:

The project centred on designing a custom noise-reduction solution that integrates seamlessly with high-speed press operations.

Key elements included the fabrication of 80mm double-skin galvanised panels for maximum sound damping, the installation of a robust RSA steel framework for structural integrity, and the incorporation of electronic safety interlocks to ensure operator protection without compromising access.

The Solution

Equipment Description – Enclosure

The Bruderer acoustic enclosure comprises double-skin, 80mm thick panels manufactured from galvanised sheet steel. The external sheet is pre-coated with a high-quality white finish (or specific RAL colour as requested), ensuring durability and a clean aesthetic.

To achieve maximum noise reduction, the inner skin is formed from a perforated sheet that facilitates sound absorption into the fill media. The enclosure features fully insulated panels with 75mm thick slabs of mineral wool insulation bonded between the panel skins. On installation, these panels were locked and sealed together to ensure acoustic integrity.

Structural Design & Access

The panel work structure is built around a light gauge RSA steel framework. This robust frame supports and connects the sides and roof, designed specifically to allow the acoustic enclosure to be lifted off the Bruderer press for moving or maintenance purposes. Lifting eyes were fixed to the roof frame to facilitate this operation.

The roof shares a similar construction, formed from galvanised, insulated panels with a solid outer skin and perforated inner skin.

Material Flow & Safety

The design incorporates two side panels containing slots to allow material to pass efficiently from right to left through the enclosure. For access, the front and rear panels feature large opening solid doors fitted with electronic interlocks.

This project is a prime example of our bespoke Acoustic Solutions, designed to meet specific safety and operational requirements. The interlock hardware was supplied by the client, with wiring and signals integrated by third-party specialists.

Installation

The sound-absorbing enclosure sits on the existing press support frame, secured by additional RSA angles drilled and tapped into the existing solid base. All new supports were precision-trimmed around existing mounted services, with all connections finished by flashing the outer or inner face of the enclosure.

Project Brief:

The client required a robust sound-dampening solution for their Bruderer press. The brief called for a custom-engineered enclosure that would significantly reduce operational noise levels from the high-speed machinery while maintaining easy access for material flow, maintenance, and safety interlocks.
